Karen Ingalls is an Author, Blogger and ovarian cancer survivor since her diagnosis in 2008. She writes and advocates about health/wellness, and various social issues. She is actively involved with The Clearity Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, Central Florida Gynecology Cancer Support Group, Survivors Teaching Students, and does presentations to promote women’s awareness about ovarian cancer.
She was named a winner for the 2013 National Indie Excellence Awards for Women’s Health; a finalist in the 2012 Midwest Book Awards for her book, Outshine: An Ovarian Cancer Memoir.
She won the New Apple Award and the Pinnacle Award for her historical novel about America’s premier sculptor and his love affair with his model, Davida: Model & Mistress of Augustus Saint-Gaudens,
Her novel, Novy’s Son has received recognition as a testament to the important role of a father to his son.
Ms. Ingalls most recent book, When I Rise: Tales, Truths and Symbolic Trees is a series of twelve short stories that center on social and family issues of everyday life. Each story has a truth or lesson, and an association with the symbolism of a tree.
Mrs. Ingalls is a retired RN and has a master’s degree in human development. She is a member of Literary Diva’s Library, Poetry Sharing Group, Authors/Bloggers Rainbow Support Group, Fresh Ink Group, and Independent Authors Network. Her blog provides a platform for all authors and avid readers, and those interested in outshining life’s challenges.
